From family to fuzzy little bears

Yesterday morning I was going through the daily news when I saw this advertisement for the new S5-what is it with Samsung? Every other day a new phone with hardly noticeable changes comes out, SO irritating-and I was discussing it with my dad. Then he randomly says, "Keerthana, when you're older, you should do well in college, get a good job, earn a lot of money. Then you have to buy me all cool big gifts like this phone, every day, or week at least."
I give him a look, and his reply to that is, "It's a good thing to do! You'll feel that warm glow of self satisfaction in buying your dad such amazing, thoughtful gifts. And don't you want your dad to be one of those cool guys with all the new gadgets?"
"You're cool enough, appa. All my friends think so too. That's enough, no? But if you DO want a new gift everyday, I'll be more than happy to get you useful stuff- eraser, water bottle..?"
And then we both start laughing, because we both are just that 'mokkai' and anyone listening to us would think, "Whoa, retarded family." But that's how we roll. Besides, my dad is the 'cool dad'. Our crazy conversations are something I always look forward to.
(There you are, appa. I've written it down.)

Anyway. Yesterday was going pretty well. Being a holiday, I could do anything I wanted to after, of course, dancing for an hour. That done, I settled down on the couch with my new P.G. Wodehouse book, 'Aunts Aren't Gentlemen.' Yes, another fact about me: I am a bookworm. I hate non fiction, but fiction- I devour them.
My ever-cool dad recently got me a collection of Wodehouse books, the Jeeves collection. I was beside myself with joy! The whole summer before me, with 7 brilliant books to read. Life is complete.

So, I was reading this and listening to music as well, basically my favorite two past-times, when I suddenly received a text from a friend: "The exam results are out." It's funny how one text can change your first perfect day into one of the worst days ever. You can probably guess by now I didn't do too well, and for the rest of the day, I was moping around, the grades swirling around in my mind. Then I made a 'mummy promise', as the kids call it in Chennai, that I would pass with flying colours the next year. All this, of course, so that I do well in college-get a good job-earn money-buy dad stuff.

Apart from this, the only other thing I did worth mentioning, was that I.. Well.. Watched Winnie the Pooh. Hasn't anyone ever wondered why they liked a particular show when they were young and watched it again? If you were wondering what my opinion was, I still love Winnie the Pooh. It's an adorable show, and brings back memories! I used to have stickers of Piglet, Tigger and a couple of other characters stuck on my wall when I was young. And there's even a video of mini-me watching Pooh bear. Needless to say, Winnie the Pooh has probably shaped my life in tiny ways. "It's always good to share!" The importance of friendship. "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, and I'll stay there forever."

I've got to go cover my new schoolbooks/clean out my shelf now, ("Oh bother!") so until next time!

I really love Winnie the Pooh. Especially Eeyore. He's one of those characters you just want to scoop up and hug forever.

(I also realized you may not know me? I'm thisisnivedha from Instagram. Dipti told me of your awesomeness.) :D

Anywho, I think your blog is awesome! And so, I nominated you for the Leibster Blog Award on mine, infraredpedestrian.blogspot.com. I know we haven't really talked before, but I'd be honored if you check it out and start a Leibster post of your own. :) Thanks!
